Design should never say, “Look at me.” It should always say, “Look at this.” —David Craib
I’ve been a graphic designer for 14 years.
Everything you see of mine, I have created from scratch. My logos, digital downloads, decks, websites, packaging, labels, business cards, stickers, and magnets—all came from me!
My focus is pre-print production (aka anything that gets designed before it gets produced on paper. I love working with layouts, typography, and color.
I also work on building people’s websites through Squarespace! I am available to help you
How I work.
I will never give a client anything that I wouldn’t be happy receiving myself. I never show something that I don't love. Because if I don’t love it, how do I expect my client to? More importantly, how would I be able to convince them to love it while knowing it’s not my best or the best for them?
When I start a project, 9 times out of 10, I can see the end result in my mind. Literally. I can see the layout, color, and typography. Then the fun part comes—trying to get the computer (and my head/eye coordination!) to reflect what I see in my head. So I may spend some, what may seem unnecessary, extra time working over and over what I’ve just put together. There are times that what I get so excited for doesn’t end up working. But I’m constantly looking for that small adjustment to make the client’s piece just perfect. Alignment, kerning, shifting color, changing font...this process happens every time.
I do my best to glean every piece of information from my client during our consultation—including how they talk about their needs. Many times, during the revision process, clients come back with things I’ve already tried and decided wouldn’t work best for them. My design isn’t just mechanical or technical—it’s also intuitive. I am always trying my best to help my clients not have to worry about every detail by allowing myself to sweep those away for them!
I love my profession down to my bones. I am lucky to be able to wake up every morning and not dread going to work. This job gives me two of the best things. The first is making people incredibly happy—helping them accomplish a task that they either don’t have the time for, the eye for, they’re too overwhelmed, or just are so lost. The second is being able to see something I created bring that joy, and being able to see it in person—in hand. There just isn’t a better feeling than something I created being placed in my hands. It is so fulfilling! And exciting too!
I hope I get the chance to work with you soon.
